Spring 2014
Well we do not have to tell all of you that much like our extreme winter we have had a very unique spring at Behm Blueberry Farm. It really began last October when our long time employee and dear friend Ramon decided it was time to return to Mexico. This was a very sad day for, us we really enjoyed working with Ramon and having him as a part of our family for over 10 years, however we knew this day would come and so we truly wish him the very best and hope to see him again someday.
So that brings us to NOW. One of our part time guys has stepped up to replace Ramon and his name is Bryan. It helps that he is our cousin so we all get along just great and of course he is a really hard worker. We appreciate all he has been doing for us and we look forward to all of you meeting him this season.
The question we are asked the most this year is how are the bushes and berries doing? For all that they went through this past winter they really do look pretty good. Parts of the farm look amazing and some parts are showing the effects of our harsh winter. The good news we have GREEN BERRIES which are sizing well and in the next 4-5 weeks will be turning blue! We will keep you updated to their progress, if you follow us on Facebook we try to post a weekly picture usually on Tuesdays since that is the day that I am on the farm and if you have not yet "liked" us on Facebook we encourage you to do so.
We look forward to seeing all of you in the weeks to come. Thank you all for supporting our farm.

THANK YOU!
Well they say better late then never. We want to thank everyone who came out to the farm this summer to either U-Pick or to buy already picked blueberries. We so enjoyed seeing all of you and hope you had a great experience while visiting the farm. We have already begun working on the 2014 crop by chopping the grass in the rows and applying a fall fertilizer to help keep the bushes healthy through the winter and spring. Please keep checking the blog for updates though out the winter we will be posting some great recipes for you to try. Have a great fall.

2013 Harvest Continues
What a great first few days we have had this past week. Thousands of pounds of blueberries have already found their way into several homes either by the purchase of already hand picked berries or U pick. It has been great fun seeing friends and family come out to the farm. Saturday was especially exciting to see so many of you come out to U pick and take the time to come back to the main building just to say hi and give me the opportunity to see you and your children and get my hugs which as you all know is my favorite part of this business. We will continue to keep the U pick open as long as we have berries to pick as well as having already picked berries available. Our hours are Mon-Fri 9:00-6:00 and Sat. 9:00-2:00. Yes we will be OPEN Coast Guard Saturday so stop by and say Hi to Lindsay, Howard and Ramon since I will be at Borrs on this day. SEE YOU ALL VERY SOON!

Blueberries are bursting with healthy flavor
So did you know that in only one cup of blueberries you are provided with 1/3 rd of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C, 4 grams of fiber and only 80 calories. No wonder blueberries are a favorite fruit for many of us. Also when analyzed at Tufts University along with 60 other fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant capabilities blueberries come out on TOP rating highest in their ability to destroy cell-damaging free radicals which is really good news when fighting certain diseases. WOW I know I am going to have to put more into our freezer this year how about you. It won't be long now.
2013 Blueberry Harvest
Well the 2013 blueberry harvest is just around the corner and at Behm Blueberry Farms we are really excited to get started. The cooler temps during the spring and early summer where great for the crop actually they were perfect and we think you will all be very pleased when you come out and pick. Our opening day will be THURSDAY, JULY 25th at 9:00 A.M. There will be a couple of new faces at the U-Pick this year along with our very own Lindsay. She is actually working fulltime at a summer camp but has agreed to work with us on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Our new faces will be Rachel on Monday and Thursdays and Patty on Wednesday and Friday, all the ladies are so looking forward to greeting you and showing you where you can go to pick the CLUSTERS of berries. We will also once again be offering those delicious blueberry white chocolate cookies and blueberry muffins for purchase along with cold bottled. So look for the NEW RED BERRY BARN located on Lake Michigan drive and we will see you all very soon. Just realized I did not mention that we also will be offer ALREADY PICKED berries for purchase if you do not have the time or desire to pick your own.
